CodeHS is a comprehensive program for helping schools teach computer science. We provide web-based curriculum, teacher tools and resources, and professional development.

The mission of CodeHS is to empower all students to meaningfully impact the future. We believe that in the 21st century, coding is a foundational skill, just like reading and writing. That’s why we say: Read, Write, Code. We do this by providing great curriculum, tools, and resources to teachers, students, and schools to implement high quality computer science programs. We believe that everyone should get the chance to learn coding, and that it’s a skill that provides limitless creative opportunity to students. We want to help make computer science education fun and accessible, and believe you need both great tools as well as a great community to make this happen.

As a Software Engineer at CodeHS, you'll be responsible for helping to build and maintain the codehs.com website and related tools. Our team shares a lot of responsibilities and the role is for a generalist engineer who may work on any number of areas.

Job Responsibilities Include:

• Developing new features for the CodeHS.com website
• Maintaining and making improvements to existing features
• Working with our Support team on certain escalations on technical bugs
• Managing CodeHS data and supporting data analysis
• Develop and maintain internal tools used across the team

Qualifications

• Passionate about Computer Science education
• Great communicator and collaborative team member
• Computer science or related major, a plus
• Professional experience as a software engineer, a plus
• Some experience developing full stack web applications

What's it like to work at CodeHS?

Our team is a distributed team, with team members in 10+ states. We support working from home, or working from a coworking space, or working at an office. We have a passionate team who cares about the work we do in education. You'll be a good match for CodeHS if you bring excitement around education, are a self-starter, and always looking to learn more. We do a lot of video chats and have systems in place to help with communication and planning. You should be a proactive communicator.

The Engineering team is a small team of 6. We are all really passionate about computer science and enjoy collaborating with each other to create tools to enable teachers and learners to also experience the joys of learning to code.
