We are looking for an R&D Software Engineer to build, from he ground up, patient-specific anatomical simulations for our market-defining surgical navigation platform.
This role presents the unique opportunity to use computer graphics, computer vision, and physical simulation make an impact on clinical care. You will also have ample opportunities to communicate your work in peer-reviewed journals and white papers.
Your first year at Illuminant will involve working in a team of committed clinicians and engineers in defining and building our product. You will be helping set up demonstrations in real operating rooms and will be building software alongside our team of surgeons. You will be working on topics across physical simulation, rendering, projection mapping, point cloud registration, medical image segmentation, and 3D sensing.
Our ideal candidate is intrinsically motivated by the novel applications of the topics mentioned above towards medicine. They will have deep experience in working with and building applications with 3D engines and 3D sensors, with a strong background in computer graphics, computer vision, and physical simulations. They will be fluent in C++. Python, and Unity, and they value modern high-quality code development practices. They are energized by the accelerated growth, deep autonomy, and trajectory-setting impact that comes with joining as an early engineer.
To excel in this role, you will have worked on graphical and simulation applications in the past and take pride in creating product specifications, making engineering tradeoffs, and communicating your technical ideas with teammates.
📝 What You Will Do
- Architect, implement, test, debug, optimize, and deploy end-to-end anatomical simulations and compute vision pipelines, working at all levels from optics and sensors to tuning optimization algorithms.
- Make design tradeoffs and translate product features into engineering specifications and projects.
- Collaborate with and support other teammates in part selection, system integration, and system debug efforts.
- Propose and lead future software development efforts
- Maintain comprehensive architecture and design documentation
- Communicate technical ideas in written and oral media, such as peer-reviewed papers, company blogs, and invited talks.
