Role Overview:

As the Senior Manager of the Platform team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the quality, stability, and scalability of the foundational layers of Gather. This includes everything from our rendering engine to our integrations to our game service, as well as the multiple interfaces we support (browser, desktop, and mobile). You’ll also partner closely with our product teams to understand their initiatives and pain points to help them move and build more efficiently through enhanced tooling, abstractions, or building blocks.

With the wide surface area of our technology, you’ll have the ability and responsibility to drive impactful technical decision-making. In parallel, you’ll also be responsible for scaling our Platform team as we grow. We need leaders who are thoughtful and intentional about organizational strategy and growth that mirror our changing business and technology needs.

Where you will make an impact:

• Build, manage, and lead engineering teams that make Gather a reliable and scalable product
• Coach, grow, and develop senior engineering talent that has an organizational impact
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to set strategy, priorities, and mission for your teams
• Build expertise, clarity, and key insights on what makes the Gather platform function well
• Hold a high-quality bar across the engineering organization
• Design and drive process for achieving operational excellence through visibility and accountability
• Build and operate frameworks for guiding technical decision-making in all areas across engineering

What you bring:

• 3+ years of experience in engineering management roles, supporting full teams of 7 or more
• 5+ years of experience building scalable, high-performance platforms or infrastructure
• Demonstrated track record of operating and scaling high-complexity, high-usage products
• A natural curiosity for understanding and solving deep technical challenges
• A principled and balanced approach to planning, execution, and decision-making

Nice-to-haves:

• Prior experience in high-growth technology companies
• Experience managing team(s) of 10 or more
• Experience with globally distributed engineering teams

US Salary Range

At Gather, compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $192,000 - $258,000 annually and we encourage candidates outside of this salary range to apply.

Base pay is one part of the total package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for a stock reward program.
