Role Overview:
As the Senior Manager of the Video & Infrastructure team, you’ll be responsible for the services, systems, and infrastructure that power the Audio and Video products at Gather. This infrastructure handles 100,000+ hours of daily conversation across dozens of countries and thousands of offices worldwide. You’ll shape and define the long-term strategy and direction for making Gather one of the world's most reliable remote meeting products.
You’ll also be responsible for the general infrastructure underlying Gather’s services, from our game servers to API servers. This encompasses the infrastructure-as-code, tools, configuration, automation, and scripts that build, deploy, and run our many services in cloud environments. In partnership with engineering leadership, you’ll define our security practices, make long-term technology decisions, and guide critical investments for the future of Gather’s infrastructure.
Where you will make an impact:
- Build, manage, and lead teams of software engineers and operations engineers
- Plan and execute our strategy for performance, reliability, and scalability across all of Gather’s services
- Operate and optimize a world-class Video product that meets the quality needs of tens of thousands of remote teams and offices worldwide
- Design and drive process for achieving operational excellence through visibility and accountability
- Hire, coach, and grow senior engineering talent that has an organizational impact
- Partner with product and engineering leadership to set strategy, priorities, and mission for your teams
- Define the service-level agreements and objectives for our systems and products
What you bring:
- 2+ years of experience in engineering management roles, supporting teams of 6 or more
- 5+ years of experience building and operating super-scale, high-performance infrastructure
- Demonstrated track record of scaling high-complexity, high-usage products to the next order of magnitude
- A natural curiosity for understanding and solving deep technical challenges
- A principled and balanced approach to planning, execution, and decision-making
Nice-to-haves:
- 2+ years of experience working with real-time video infrastructure
- Prior experience supporting DevOps/Site-Reliability engineers
- Prior experience in high-growth technology companies
- In-depth knowledge or experience with WebRTC and/or video codecs
- In-depth knowledge or experience with Kubernetes and modern cloud platforms
- Prior experience with globally distributed engineering teams
US Salary Range
At Gather, compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $192,000 - $258,000 annually and we encourage candidates outside of this salary range to apply.
Base pay is one part of the total package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for a stock reward program.
