The role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Hydropower Engineer (South East Asia) to join a leading infrastructure consultancy and contribute to the growth and development of a business with a reputation for technical excellence and strong client relationships.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
To provide project management and to carry out studies and design of hydropower and dam projects and its components
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering input of Hydropower and Dam Projects, to include but not limited to feasibility studies, tender design, detail design, tender/contract documentation and construction site supervision.
Lead design team, controlling project time and cost management, review of project deliverables.
Carry out hydraulic studies, hydraulic design of surge shafts, intake, spillways and water conveyance systems
Carry out hydro power scheme design for large to small hydro projects including layout and scheme optimization.
Carry out design of dams from concept level to detail design
Review and Quality Assurance of technical input to projects and ensure compliance with SMEC business and quality management system for execution of works and deliverables on a day to day basis (including delivery according to the delivery schedule and achieving Client satisfaction).
Carry out project management for the projects assigned to ensure timely delivery, within budget and meeting client’s and SMEC’s quality requirements
Compliance with other requirements including codes of practice and standards, relevant to the workplace and project deliverables.
Communications management, to ensure that adequate communication is maintained with all Project stakeholders; and procurement of Project needs and resources.
Liaise with SMEC technical experts internationally as required to deliver the Project.
Be a good team player and participate in local office activities with a one SMEC attitude.
Participation in Proposal preparations and marketing activities
Key Performance Indicators:
Overall accountability for the deliverables of the Project to ensure that deliverables are on schedule, within budget and to an acceptable quality standard and the Client’s satisfaction.
Comply with all SMEC reporting and compliance procedures.
Maintaining a close working relationship with Clients and Stakeholders to ensure they are satisfied and are repeat clients for SMEC.
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
M.Sc. / B.SC. Civil Engineering, 20 years of experience in feasibility studies, tender design, detail design, contract documentation and construction site supervision for hydro projects.
Ability to write effectively in English to furnish reports and to prepare business development materials including proposals.
Co-operative and flexible work style to accommodate workload and deadlines when required and able to work under pressure.
Willingness to travel and work abroad at locations as required by ongoing projects.
Willingness to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge.
Ability to develop Client relationships.
