Arthena is on a mission to quantify the qualitative. We use machine learning and natural language processing to price art objectively, instantly, and accurately. Through this we develop and deploy a variety of financial instruments and strategies.
As a Data Engineer, you will build tools and infrastructure to gather, prepare, analyze, and visualize art market data. You’ll be working on Arthena’s end to end data pipeline, starting from data ingestion from the outside world, transformation of that information into actionable insights, and working closely with other software engineers, to design the interfaces that our data scientists and art experts use to understand the art market.

Your Main Tasks
- Normalize fragmented data sources by developing canonical datasets
- Design and implement reliable data processing and machine learning pipelines
- Collaborate with data science and operations to develop product roadmap
- Build out infrastructure, testing, data model validation, and data visualization systems
- Design scalable systems and making architectural decisions
- Project scoping, sprint planning, and excellent time management
Who you are
- Led projects from conception to deployment
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- 3+ years of developing production-grade ETL pipelines
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or some equivalent
- Intrinsic motivation and the ability to learn quickly
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with a team
- Experience managing small teams of engineers is a plus
Tech Stack
- Proficiency and deep understanding of Python, SQL, and distributed computing platforms (eg. GCP, AWS).
- Experience with dagster or other comparable ETL frameworks, libraries and software (eg. Airflow, Argo).
- Experience with Python libraries for advanced natural language processing such as spaCy and NLTK is a plus.
- Experience with machine learning and libraries like Scikit-learn and TensorFlow is a plus.
