Buildt is an AI tool to help developers quickly search, understand and extend large codebases. Engineers have to work with multi million line codebases; our LLM-powered tool makes this simple. Buildt understands what your code does, not just what it is, like a human engineer. It also has a perfect understanding of the relationship and dependencies between different snippets of code. We call this our Knowledge Engine. Our next phase is to build and open up this Knowledge Engine via an API for others to build on top of.

As a backend engineer, you will have a valuable opportunity to contribute to the design and development of our data architecture and interfaces for our core application, which caters to developers working on large codebases worldwide. You will learn innovative data architectures and work on projects leveraging cutting-edge AI. We run a flat, inclusive team that wants to hear great ideas from everyone on the team.

What we’re looking for
- 3+ years of professional work experience in backend development
- Experience building large-scale user-facing applications and developer tools
- Expertise in building complex distributed services with high availability and strict SLAs
- Ability to design, develop, and maintain efficient and reliable backend software systems using Node.js, with a focus on integrating and optimizing company-wide architecture for improved performance, scalability, and integration capabilities
- Strong CS fundamentals, and knowledge of architecture and common design patterns
- You’re good at cross-functional communication with product managers, designers, etc
- You’re passionate about being in a fast-paced, product-focused environment where everyone cares deeply about customer impact.
- Experience continuously conducting refactoring, evolving standards, and improving build and test systems for code quality.
- Knowledge of web services relating to APIs (REST, HTTP, JSON, etc.)
- Design and implement secure and scalable APIs to facilitate communication and data exchange between backend systems and external platforms
- Familiar with SSO with SAML and/or OIDC protocols
- Experienced with Google Cloud and have working knowledge of observability tooling
- Capable with CI/CD, specifically using Github Actions and Google Cloud
Bonus points if experienced with deploying LLMs to production
