About the role

We’re looking for a full-time Senior Backend Engineer. As the fourth member of our Engineering team, you will go 0 to 1 on our most important core product initiatives. You will be given a lot of autonomy, and the chance to learn in one week what it would take one month to learn elsewhere. Our stack consists of Rust, AWS, Sinatra, and React. We use Postgres, Redis, and S3 for data storage.

You will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

What you’ll do

• You will own data architecture decisions and optimize performance for an infinite scrolling web-based spreadsheet that supports thousands of columns and millions of rows.

• You will own the data-ingestion layer of OneSchema's backend, increasing the speed of both our schema inference pipeline as well as our customer data load pipeline.

• You will be responsible for scaling our data validation engine that offers a flexible schema and real-time feedback to users.

• You will be the primary owner of the platform infrastructure behind our product, ensuring we maintain data security best-practices while enabling server reliability and a good developer experience for the team at large.

Who you are

Essentials:

• 3+ years of relevant experience working on building and maintaining reliable databases and backend systems at scale (AWS, SQL)

• Comfortable with ambiguity. Excited about wearing multiple hats in a fast-moving environment. Able to hustle to drive results

• Self-driven, self-motivated, fast learner. Ability to own open-ended projects end-to-end.

Even better if you:

• Have familiarity managing infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)

• Have worked on data ingestion pipelines with event-driven architectures
