Senior Accountant

OVERVIEW

Modern Treasury is hiring a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team.  Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, you’ll be instrumental in building out a large part of our finance team’s people, processes, and systems. As the second accountant at Modern Treasury this role will have visibility into many areas of accounting, including General Ledger, Operational and Project Based accounting. 

What you will do:

• Assist Accounting Manager with monthly close procedures, owning specific processes and driving it forward

• Prepare monthly journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations timely and accurately. Includes tracking, analyzing variance and ensuring proper month-end cutoff

• Manage AP processing, T&E review and AR matching

• Be a key team member in our ERP implementation and Sales Tax implementation

• Manage requests from external audit and tax teams

• Lead and assist special projects as needed

You Will Have:

• 2+ years experience in public accounting, preferably at a Big 4 firm

• 1+ years experience at a small private technology company

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to work cross-functionally with other teams

• Curious, resourceful, analytical mindset

• CPA or pursuit of CPA preferred

• Experience with systems and implementing systems, a plus

WEEK BY WEEK

During your first six weeks you will:

• Complete a month-end close

• Learn current processes

• Implement small process improvements

During your first six months you will:

• Fully own accounting processes, implement improvements to close procedures

• Take a leadership role in implementing the ERP system and Sales Tax compliance

• Assist in preparing the company for audit readiness
