Why we're looking for you
Prelim is growing incredibly fast and we're looking for our first Security Engineer. Previously Prelim's security was driven by multiple individuals across multiple teams, and we're looking for an incredible Security Engineer who can help shape how security is done at Prelim.
You'll leverage your engineering background to design, develop, and administer programs to improve our security defenses through industry best practices and continual innovation.
What you'll do
As the first Security Engineer you will help create and lead our security program, from developing security policies, helping implement security controls, conducting risk assessments and providing training and awareness to the rest of the team.
You will write code, review code written by other engineers, and also use tools to scan, identify, and remediate security risks. As an early member, you'll also help build processes to make our product and engineering team even more successful.

In this role you'll
- Contribute to our overall security and risk management strategy
- Implement security controls
- Dive into our codebase to understand technical limitations in Prelim that need solving via code that relates to security (e.g. a bug, a missing feature, etc.)
- Provide training and security awareness to engineers and the rest of the team
- Manage compliance with a security framework such as ISO 27001
The skillset you bring
- Technical experience in a professional environment, ideally a startup
- Strong knowledge of SQL, Javascript, and integrating with APIs
- Comfort exploring Prelim's codebase (React / Node)
- Previous experience with security frameworks such as ISO 27001
