Backlot is the collaborative 3D design tool for filmmakers.

We enable filmmakers to visualize, iterate, and plan their films with ease- all before getting to set. Virtually shoot films in our 3D platform and then share photo-real exports and blueprints with the entire team. With accurate cameras & lights, animatable characters, detailed sets, and a massive library of over 25,000 digital props, Backlot is the go-to software for filmmakers to digitally create their visions and win pitches.

We're a tight team of filmmakers, product managers & engineers hailing from Google, Microsoft, and the MIT Media Lab, with short films that have premiered at Tribeca and the LA Film Festival. We're backed by investors like Y Combinator and titans from some of the largest film studios in Hollywood.

Backlot was featured a top startup in the YC S20 batch by TechCrunch and has a customer base that has been growing faster than we can handle since our launch. We've built a product that customers love and look forward to expanding our team!

About the role

As a founding member of the sales team, you will be given the opportunity to build Backlot sales from the group up. You will be frequently interacting with large film studios, production companies and high profile filmmakers. You will be tasked with discovering new ways to dramatically bring more filmmakers into the world of 3D animation and get Backlot used on some of the largest film productions. If you love film and tv, this role is for you.

  • Grow our existing filmmaker user base tenfold by expanding into new industries
  • Assess customer needs and build strong, trusted, relationships at all levels
  • Develop new sales strategies for future product launches
  • Identify risk and be decisive in ensuring it is managed
  • Provide accurate forecasting for deals and quarterly revenue

About you

  • 3+ years experience in enterprise software sales
  • Demonstrated success in managing executive relationships with partners and/or customers
  • Exceptional communication skills and and a high energy, positive attitude
  • Excitement to be a part of building a company from the ground up & enjoy a high degree of ownership
  • Experience using Hubspot CRM is a plus
  • Filmmaking knowledge & an interest in digital creative tools are ++
