How we work
- As an early employee, you’ll get to work directly with the founders and early team to define and execute on tasks with high impact to Heron
- We promote an outcome-focused, low-bureaucracy work environment with an emphasis on having impact and moving relevant metrics.
The role
- We have >100 customers, all of which have been sold to by one of our founders (Jamie) and our Founder Associate (Jakob). We have a proven playbook to sell our B2B SaaS product, and are looking for someone to own and execute on part of this playbook.
- As a Sales Development Representative, you will feed our sales pipeline with new leads. You will both execute on proven outbound strategies (like email campaigns and LinkedIn), and experiment with sourcing deals in new ways.
- Part of the compensation for this role will be on a commission basis, with the ability to earn significant upside if you exceed quotas.
- This role gives you the opportunity to interact with many prospective customers every day, and deeply learn about our customers pain points and opportunities.
- This role can involve repetitive work, but it also has a clear progression path: We will actively promote folks to an Account Executive level if we believe they are ready to close their own deals.
What we're looking for
Above all else, we value people who have a growth mindset and who want to make an impact in their work. We list below some thoughts on the responsibilities that an ideal candidate will grow into, and we don't expect you to be experienced in all of these before applying / joining.
-
Be scrappy and creative
- You are highly motivated. When faced with an obstacle, you will either overcome it by pure determination, or find an unusual approach to navigate it
- You have good written and verbal communication, and are able to adjust your approach depending on the specific situation and customer.
-
Be persistent
- You may not always find the right contact person immediately, but you're motivated to keep on trying until you do so.
- You are willing to write and send the eighth ‘breakup’ email to a hard-to-schedule decision maker. You’ll pick up the phone to call the switchboard or knock on doors if that’s what it takes
-
Be metrics-driven
- You have worked in an environment where your impact is measured in terms of revenue generated
- You're fact-driven and motivated to measure the real impact of your work
- You're excited by the idea of having your salary move in line with your impact on the business.
- You thrive in an environment where 11/10 is smashing through your quota to the exclusion of anything else
-
Work in an fast-paced, high-growth, team-based environment
- Be entrepreneurial. This means having a growth mindset, finding problems without being told about them, thinking independently about issues and clearly advocating your position, and taking full ownership of your work, even if things go wrong
- Be a team player. You value diversity & inclusion in the workplace, are a helpful teammate, and understand best practices for building products as part of a team e.g., code review / version control
