OVERVIEW
We are looking for a product manager to own the platform and data architecture of Modern Treasury, reporting directly to our CPO & Co-Founder, Matt Marcus. This product manager will work closely with our platform and infrastructure engineering teams. They will build a platform that supports new product development and scalability. They will also work to ensure we adhere to global data requirements.
Today, Modern Treasury has 3 products: Payments, Virtual Accounts, and Ledgers. Our customers use our platform to move and manage money for their own products or services. Over time we plan to introduce new products to serve our customers that leverage the network of counterparties and payments we already process and track. Examples of such products include fraud detection and counterparty risk management. We must do this while preserving customer privacy and segregating data between customers.
We are primarily operating in the United States today, but we do have customers who use our product in overseas markets such as the EU, UK, Canada, and Australia. We may begin to go to market in some other countries at the end of 2022 or early 2023. In order to support global expansion, both for US-based and foreign customers, we must ensure we are appropriately compliant with global data and privacy regulations. This person should be able to create a roadmap for global data storage and compliance.
These are some of the things we’d look for in a person that would be a good fit:
-
Has built a similar core platform for a company that served consumers or businesses at a massive scale. Ideally this platform was leveraged for fraud detection or other hosted data management solutions as well
-
Has a strong stance towards minimal data collection and usage in the products they build. Has built systems where internal and external users are able to address business needs with only as little data as is needed to provide the service
-
Has defined data privacy and protection policies adhering to various compliance requirements for large scale products, ideally payments products. Has built products that are transparent about data collection and usage while providing controls and accountability features to customers in a simple and usable manner
-
Has a keen end-to-end understanding of the different data sets — business critical, sensitive and other types of data collected during the lifecycle of a product. Has defined product-level guarantees by providing methods for understanding data sets via labeling or annotations, and implementing data segregation, propagation constraints, access controls, retention, deletion, and auditing features
-
Has experience with encryption, obfuscation, tokenization and related methodologies that may be used to protect classes of sensitive data. Has built data pipelines to provide anonymization and aggregation of data that feeds into business analytics tools and services
-
Has knowledge of global data requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, and India's data storage requirements. Ideally this person is also plugged into the ecosystem and has an opinion or sense on future changes as well.
-
Is an experienced PM and has excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration and prioritization skills
