About Probably Genetic
Probably Genetic is changing the lives of patients living with severe, complex diseases. Our technology discovers undiagnosed patients online, analyzes their disease state using machine learning and at-home testing, and connects patients to relevant resources. In doing so, we help patients access diagnoses, clinical trials, and treatments as early as possible. Our data platform is used by drug developers and patient advocacy groups to develop and launch treatments for these patients.
We are a tight-knit group of hard-working, ambitious problem solvers united by a mission greater than ourselves.
We do well by doing right by patients. We’re growing quickly and our roadmap is packed with innovations in bioinformatics, machine learning, and patient-focused efforts. We are building an all-star team to help us bring our vision to life, and we want you to be a part of it.
Probably Genetic has raised multiple rounds of funding from Silicon Valley’s best investors, including Threshold, Khosla, and Y Combinator, giving us the ability to pay competitive salaries, offer great benefits, and provide meaningful equity. We’re dedicated to ensuring your journey with us is unforgettable, with incredible team retreats to places like Barbados, the Alps, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Portugal, just to name a few.
About the role
We are looking for (our first!) Product Designer who will play a pivotal role in shaping the look, feel, and experience of all of our products. You will have the autonomy to define and implement design strategies that reflect our values and resonate with our patients. This is a unique opportunity to impact the lives of patients around the world through innovative and thoughtful design.
What you will do
-
Craft Compelling User Experiences: Develop intuitive user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and pixel-perfect designs that delight and engage our patients and lead to conversion rate optimization.
-
Collaborate Across Teams: Partner closely with engineers and other business stakeholders to bring ideas to life and ensure a seamless user experience from concept to launch.
-
Drive Design Strategy: Establish and maintain a cohesive visual and interaction design language that embodies our brand and evolves with our products.
-
User Research & Testing: Conduct user interviews, usability tests, and A/B testing to gain insights from key product metrics and iterate on design solutions based on real-world feedback.
-
Build & Scale: Create and manage a scalable design system that promotes consistency and efficiency across multiple platforms and products.
-
Advocate for the Patient: Champion user-centric design practices and help instill a design-first mindset within the organization.
Who you are
We are looking for a few specific things that will help you succeed in this role:
-
3-5 years of product design experience as a key contributor or sole designer, specifically in the health tech or biotech industry. Ideally, designing products that directly interface with patients. Experience working on biotech-related products is also highly desirable.
-
Experiencing designing for both web and mobile platforms.
-
A robust portfolio demonstrating a range of design skills and the ability to solve complex problems with elegant, user-focused solutions.
-
Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and experience with prototyping tools like InVision or Framer.
-
Comfortable using various project management and/or agile development planning tools, e.g., JIRA, Linear, Asana
-
Deep understanding of UX principles, accessibility standards, and user research & testing methodologies.
-
Strong visual design skills with an eye for detail and the ability to convey complex information through clear, compelling visuals.
-
Ability to articulate design decisions and present work effectively to stakeholders across various teams.
Some things that are not required, but you will learn on the job:
-
Experience designing for products that serve patients suffering from rare and/or unexplained, complex diseases
