Amazon Web Services seeks a creative, high-judgement, detail-oriented, and experienced business operations professional to build and manage a strong framework of processes and reporting mechanisms that will ensure Asia’s communications function is running efficiently, scaling effectively, maintaining high standards, and making data-driven decisions. The Operations and Events Manager, Communications, AWS Asia is a team unifier, driving a spirit of collaboration across countries. The Operations and Events Manager, Communications, AWS Asia, partners with AWS’s global communications team and AWS regional leaders, to develop aligned reporting and measurement strategies, as well as running all of the operational tasks for the Asia Communications team, including financial compliance measures like regional budget management, and setting up team purchase orders and contracts. The role is also responsible for ensuring high quality, and smooth execution of the team’s program at major global events, including re:Invent, partnering closely with all Asian countries, and global stakeholders. This includes managing the planning and logistics process throughout the lead-up to major events, and providing overlay support to the in-country communications lead during the events, to ensure the smooth running of communications activities, and excellent results. The role co-ordinates and delivers regional reporting following the events, analyses the reports to extract actionable insights and improvements for future programs, and then shares/works with the team to develop stronger plans for future events.

From a business operations viewpoint, the role ensures the communications function is operating at the right level of productivity and efficiency; and manages the cadence of communication and information to the team. This includes the roll out of all new processes and systems designed to optimize team performance, including the global PR team’s Salesforce portals. The role also provides support for regular team WIP meetings and owns the coordination of all in-person, international offsites, to help with team professional development and relationship-building.

The right candidate possesses experience working with a communications or marketing function, and has a solid understanding of a PR team’s unique needs. Ideally they also have experience managing and auditing PR agencies or other outside communications vendors/contractors, from an operational standpoint. They will be strong at managing scalable processes, and delivering meaningful reports and insights, and have a high ability to execute effectively. The right candidate will serve as a logistics and data-driven backbone to the PR team, and is analytical, tenacious, and can exercise high-judgment while acting quickly. The candidate will be exceptional at building relationships within the team, cross-functionally, and with peers based at Amazon’s US headquarters.

The right candidate is also adept at working across a broad and diverse international region, has a proven track record of establishing systems and mechanisms that scale across a rapidly growing international team, and possesses excellent communications skills. They have a clear vision for identifying gaps in processes, and can confidently establish and evangelize new ways of getting things done.

This role is based in Singapore, and requires periodic travel regionally, and to the US.

Responsibilities
Oversees the planning and logistics for communications activities for key PR team events like AWS re:Invent, acting as the central point of contact between the corporate and field teams. Works across the region to add value, direction, and support to the country communications leads who own their local programs. Ensures consistent, quality delivery of plans for the region. Develops a consolidated regional report after key events, and provides insights into best practices and areas for improvement for future events.
Proactively identifies areas where the team can be more efficient and productive by streamlining processes, reducing duplication of activities, and removing obstacles. Works to build solutions to make the team more effective.
Owns the management of the PR team’s Salesforce instance, the key platform used for tracking team metrics and performance. Regularly works with the Salesforce team at HQ to advocate for new feature development based on evolving team needs. Directly responsible for the roll out of new features to regional PR Managers and agency partners, and supports with training as needed.
Manages the team metrics and provides data points for strategic planning at GCA, regional leadership team, and local country levels.
Works with PR’s Finance team at headquarters to ensure team is compliant with all financial protocol, including budget management, and PO and contract processes.
Works with English-speaking country leads to coordinate a regular schedule of media spokesperson training with an external trainer. Coordinates all logistics of training schedule, including travel, and preps trainer ahead of sessions.
Owns agenda development and coordinates logistics for all team offsites, team professional development, and regular team meetings.
Supports onboarding of new team members across Asia, introducing all new team members to key systems and processes central to day-to-day job performance.
Supports Asia’s contribution to ongoing global reporting mechanisms like quarterly business review documents.
Works cross-functionally with Ops counterparts in the US and Europe to build and standardize new systems and tools to support the PR teams across the world.

Basic Qualifications
Minimum of eight - 10 years business operations experience, with direct experience supporting PR or Marketing Communications teams a plus
Experience working with Salesforce
Experience working with international teams
Experience managing PR agencies and external partners
Exceptional organizational and logistics skills
Technology PR experience required
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Proficiency in tools like Salesforce strongly preferred
Analytical and data-driven person
Strong backbone to keep a quickly growing team operating at the highest standards, and an ability to influence a team spread out across a broad and diverse region
