As part of the Mission Operations team, you will be performing daily monitoring and command functions for the Turion DROID fleet of satellites. This position applies professional knowledge to the development, implementation, and maintenance of satellite operations systems and processes through the spacecraft lifecycle. You will work with design engineers and subsystem experts to develop satellite concept of operations from inception to decommissioning. This position requires sound software skills as well as an understanding of spacecraft systems.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, assess, and maintain the operational health of Turion Space’s spacecraft fleet including defining, developing, and executing procedures to update spacecraft configuration, create and maintain alarm limits to alert mission operations of off-nominal spacecraft conditions
- Coordinate troubleshooting activities in response to satellite and network anomalies
Identify, investigate, and execute procedures to resolve spacecraft system and subsystem deviations and anomalies
- Develop and distribute reports summarizing technical analysis findings and recommendations to include monthly and annual satellite health and status reports as well as anomaly resolution reports
- Support the development of requirements for acceptance and regression testing. Resolve issues related to ground telemetry tracking and commanding software updates
- Support development, launch, and in-orbit testing of new satellites
- Assist with preparing specifications and evaluating proposals
- Successfully complete mission operations training program
- Support On-Call responsibilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (Engineering, Math, Science, Computer Science) or equivalent experience
- Experience with programming languages, specifically Ruby
- Background knowledge in OpenC3 or similar satellite control software
- Knowledge of supporting satellite ground network infrastructure
- US Persons (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Experience with the design, manufacturing, and testing of satellite systems and/or mechanisms
- Experience managing highly fault-tolerant systems
- Ability to lead/mentor more junior members of the mission operations team
- Ability to work autonomously and perform self-directed research
- Creative problem solver that can bring multiple disciplines together
