Role
The Mechatronics Intern will report directly to Wilson Ruotolo, CTO. They will build several subsystems of our robotic mushroom harvester including end-effector designs, arm design and control, and programming of movement patterns. The Mechatronics Intern will also help improve and maintain Hedgehog’s novel bioreactors. This will be a fast-paced, high ownership position. Support and mentorship will be provided on technical fronts, but interns are expected to independently break down projects into intermediate steps and handle problems as they arise.
Qualifications and Skills
Most qualified candidates will likely come from a CS, ME, or EE background with a high GPA, and will have demonstrated the ability to deliver results in an unstructured environment through extracurricular activities and/or unique projects. Some, but not all, of the following skills will be critical to success in this position:
Software: Familiarity with state-oriented and/or event-driven programming. Experience with Python, C, or C++ preferred. Experience with ROS or ROS2 would be fantastic (but not required). Experience with machine learning and/or computer vision.
Electrical: Experience working with microcontrollers and actuators, designing and soldering circuits, and integrating components into IoT systems.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Hedgehog is an inclusive workplace and is eager to build a diverse team. We welcome anyone who believes they meet the qualifications to apply.
