Offstream is looking for an expert in Life Cycle Assessment to join our growing team. You will be the first person on our team who brings specific LCA experience to the team and will have a massive impact on the success and growth of Offstream and it’s goal to decarbonize the world
What you will do
- Be the technical expert on LCA for the Offstream team
- Work with the engineering team to automate the creation of LCAs using Offstream’s internal software
- Write LCAs for submission to DOE, IRS, CARB, etc. utilizing Offstream’s software
- Develop workflows to scale LCA data collection and report writing for dozens of different technologies across thousands of green projects around the world
- Serve as the official approval stamp on 3rd party LCA reports written for our customers
- Mentor new team members and disperse knowledge throughout the company about LCA best practices
What you will bring

- 3+ years experience completing and submitting ISO-compliant LCAs, preferably working projects in bio-energy, fuel production, or carbon removal.
- 3+ years of experience using various iterations of the GREET model for the purposes of writing LCAs and calculating CI scores.
- Deep knowledge of emissions factor databases and a strong intuition of how to select appropriate emissions factors given the context of project
- Prior experience working on LCAs under difference crediting frameworks, including but not limited to CA LCFS, IRA tax credits, and voluntary carbon market standards
- An understanding of federal and state level incentives that drive the development of green projects (CA LCFS, EPA RFS, IRA 45Q, 45V, 45Z, etc…)
- Familiarity with LCA software like openLCA or SimaPro, but a strong desire to never use them again!
- BS/MS in a technical field or relevant training + experience
- Passion for startups and working on a small team (aka rolling your sleeves up when the situation calls for it)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
