What do we do?

We are building a complete digital health hub for future parents. We aim to change the outdated view that fertility is a "women's issue" by creating an accessible, affordable product for men. This includes everything from a mail-in kit for sperm testing & sperm freezing, personalized sperm improvement products, tele-health, DNA fragmentation analysis, supplements, and more.

Description

We are looking for our first dedicated in-house counsel to build our legal team and coordinate the regulatory function. The ideal candidate will advise both leadership and stakeholders on all legal matters related to the company, with a particular focus on startup, insurance contracting, and FDA compliance matters. This position will report to our Chief Operating Officer, who oversees our business operations, legal, human resources, and finance functions. This role will serve as an integral part of the core team. Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Legacy’s compliance strategy in line with HIPAA, CLIA, ADA, and other regulatory regimes

• Provide strategic direction, analysis, and solutions across a wide range of complex legal matters, from healthcare specific issues to technology-related concerns and general business operations

• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, particularly related to third-party partnership and insurance contracting operations

• Provide legal support for regulatory function, including submission of requisite FDA filings

• Provide legal support, representation and guidance for any medicolegal and/or malpractice lawsuits

• Advise stakeholders on best practices, including regarding compliance and regulatory matters

• Counsel on day-to-day legal matters, including relating to employment, insurance, and privacy matters

• Opine on and support corporate level decisions and strategic initiatives

Qualifications

• Law degree (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited institution

• Standing in at least one state bar

• 5+ years practicing law, of which ideally 3+ would be in startup or technology law, including experience representing venture-backed startup clients in the healthcare, wellness, and digital health industries

• Demonstrated mastery of compliance counselling with HIPAA, CLIA, ADA and other applicable statutes

• Proven track record of:

o High-level legal analysis

o Workflow prioritization

o High EQ

o Attention to detail

o Taking complete ownership over projects

o Clearly communicating legal conclusions to non-lawyers

o Demonstrated contract drafting skills
