The role

The Heimdall Engineering team is seeking server-side Java Software Development Engineers who are excited to work on a talented team to solve challenging problems related to managing Software Bill-of-Materials (SBOM) and tracking potential vulnerabilities in medical devices. Our challenges are broad and deep -- we need to build a flexible, secure, scalable, high-performance and robust platform with a user friendly interface.

What you'll be doing:
- Designing and developing highly available and scalable database driven Java applications with or without cloud services
- Interface with project managers, developers and business
- Be responsible for promised deliveries in time
- Collaborate with Project Management and cross functional teams
- Review technical designs and perform code review
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience designing and developing Java server applications, driven by relational databases
- Deep understanding of core concepts of Java technologies and standards
- Strong passion for designing and developing quality code
- Hands-on design, development and deployment of distributed systems
- Experience creating efficient test-driven development workflows
- Experience using Agile software development in a fast paced startup environment
- Experience with ReactJS
- Experience with RESTful APIs and API integrations
Nice-to-haves:
- Quarkus Platform Experience
- Experience designing and implementing relational databases
- Postgres Experience
- AWS Cloud Services Experience
- Passion for and knowledge of software security best practices
- Familiarity with distributed version control systems and the Git workflow, including pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD systems
- Experience with Web Sockets and real time messaging
