Current Foods (formerly Kuleana) is a San Francisco (CA) based food company that’s reimagining the way we eat, starting by introducing seafood that’s made entirely from plants. We recently completed Y Combinator (the same startup accelerator that DoorDash, AirBnB, and Dropbox, among others, have called home), raised our seed round, and are now preparing to bring our plant-based, sushi-grade seafood to the masses. We’re making seafood with all the taste, texture, and nutrition of the traditional stuff, but skipping the mercury, microplastics, and planetary strain.
Current Foods is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented, and experienced Head of Finance. The ideal candidate works in a fast-paced environment to develop the best solution for every challenge, regardless of scope, timing or budget. Duties for the role will include driving company wide financial strategy and performance, managing accounting records, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, publishing financial statements, overseeing accounting operations, interpreting financial data, monitoring expenditure, forecasting revenue, coordinating auditing processes, and ensuring the accuracy of financial information.
Partner with founders and executive team to drive financial strategy and performance.
Partner cross-functionally across Sales Ops, Product, Marketing, Engineering and Risk to remove obstacles for growth and provide KPI’s and key analysis to support and drive growth.
Responsible for establishing accounting policies and procedures that ensure finance statements in compliance with GAAP accounting principles.
Support all accounting processes and internal financial controls within Current Foods.
Oversee activities of the accounting team for the accurate and timely distribution of financial reports for the management, board and investors.
Oversee transactional finance activities including processing of accounts payable, accounts receivables, purchasing, inventory, expense reporting and payroll processing.
Responsible for cash management, investment and banking.
Develop internal accounting practices and controls that maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow. Manage these process to ensure timely & accurate financial close processes.
Identify opportunities to improve internal accounting processes; propose and implement solutions.
10+ years of corporate finance, investment banking or startup experience.
Experience leading, developing, and growing a small team.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Experience leading complex workstreams.
Systems - working knowledge of enterprise-level financial planning systems.
MBA, CFA or CPA
