We're building an AI-powered insurance brokerage transforming the $900 billion commercial insurance market by automating processes that currently run on pre-internet systems.
Our team brings together experienced professionals from leading firms including Coatue, Carlyle, Goldman Sachs, Boston Consulting Group, Amazon, and United Healthcare.
We recently emerged from stealth after wrapping YC with over $8M in funding from top investors. In just 5 months we’ve gotten nearly 600 customers and we’re growing rapidly. We need sharp, ambitious professionals to expand our mid-market growth team.
As a member of Harper’s Growth team, you'll work directly with complex $1M-$100M ARR businesses to make markets across multi-line insurance. This will involve everything from inbound sales, outbound sales, cross sell, upsell, and ongoing relationship management. What makes this role unique is that you'll simultaneously collaborate with our engineering team to optimize systems using your client data and automate the tedious backend tasks that plague traditional brokerages.
By day 30, you'll be independently managing your own full book of businesses and continuing to build it further. This isn't just selling insurance - it's helping construct the operating system that will redefine how an entire industry functions. You'll be at the forefront of both client acquisition and technological innovation as we scale from $1.2M in run-rate ARR to $100M+.
Outcomes You'll Drive
- Manage and grow a substantial book of business with hundreds of clients
- Make markets with carriers for clients with complex, bespoke coverage needs
- Navigate relationships with underwriters and negotiate optimal terms
- Deep-dive into policy language, endorsements, and coverage specifications
- Collaborate with growth engineering to automate routine workflows
- Provide data-driven feedback to optimize lead quality and conversion processes
- Document your decision-making processes to train our AI systems
- Partner with data teams to identify patterns in successful placements that can be systematized
- Exceed quarterly and annual premium targets consistently
You're Our Person If
- You thrive on execution, manage complex details, and excel with high-volume client portfolios
- You have 2-4 years of experience in banking, consulting, commercial insurance, or similar hyper growth startups as well as a strong academic background
- You consistently close deals and operate with a metrics-driven weekly cadence
- You approach challenges analytically and can directly connect your work to business outcomes
- You excel at juggling multiple client relationships simultaneously
- You're naturally curious with a results-oriented mindset and strong analytical capabilities
- Must be based in San Francisco and work in-office 5.5 days per week (relocation assistance provided, we are an in-person first team)
- Must obtain insurance license (we'll help you get licensed within your first week)
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $100,000-$170,000, depending on experience
- Annual performance bonuses based on team and individual contributions
- Equity package with significant upside potential
