Fullstack Founding Engineer

At Eventual, we are looking for the key individuals who are excited to build a new product and to grow with our company. Our team is small but packs a punch, and we come from backgrounds in genomics, self-driving and high performance computing. We love working on large ambitious projects but also enjoy a strong sense of camaraderie and never forget to work hard/play hard!

Key Responsibilities

As a Fullstack Software Engineer, you will be a founding member of the Eventual team with primary responsibilities around building the Eventual Cloud Platform. You will also work on our open-source dataframe engine DaFt which will be the de facto solution for building applications on complex data such as images, audio and video.

Some projects that you can expect to work on include:

1. User onboarding and user experience design for the Eventual Cloud Platform
2. User dashboards for understanding the performance of their deployed services
3. Simple workflows to configure and provision large clusters, networks and storage
4. An interactive notebook-based experience for experimenting with complex data and working with DaFt Telemetry and logging to quantitatively understand user behavior and derive product insights

We are a young startup - so be prepared to wear many hats such as tinkering with infrastructure, talking to customers and participating heavily in the core design process of our product!

What we look for

We are looking for an all-rounder with a strong foundation in web application development, but an insatiable appetite for taking on challenges outside your comfort zone.

Our ideal candidate has:

1. 3+ years of experience with web application development on modern frontend and server-side frameworks
2. Strong fundamentals around deploying, monitoring and maintaining resilient web services and platforms
3. Works well in small focused teams with fast iterations and lots of autonomy

Nice to haves that will help in your day-to-day work:

1. Fluency in Typescript and Python
2. Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS or GCP and using cluster frameworks such as Kubernetes or Mesos
3. Familiarity with numerical/scientific computing and machine learning tooling such as Numpy, PyTorch, Pandas and CUDA
4. Familiarity with big data frameworks such as Apache Spark, Beam and Ray
