• We analyse bank transaction data to help other FinTechs make sense of their customers’ data, starting with making it easier for them to give loans to small-to-medium businesses. This helps to solve the credit crunch in Small Business Lending, a $65B industry in the US alone.

• We’re an experienced team with background at top tech and finance companies like DeepMind, Facebook, Revolut and Spotify.

• We graduated from Y Combinator in 2020 and raised a $1.25M seed round. In 2021, we grew from $20k to $500k in annual recurring revenue. As of July 2022 we make over $1M in annual recurring revenue.

• As an early employee, you’ll get to work directly with the founders and early engineers scoping out greenfield projects that you’ll be able to own end-to-end.

The role

• All of our engineers own business outcomes first, and implement technical solutions second

• As a Frontend Engineer, we envision that the primary way you would solve customer problems is by owning the end-to-end process of shipping great user interfaces

• For example, you would take ownership over interfaces ranging from our customer-facing application where users understand and interact with the Heron API, to our marketing site (our most important acquisition channel), to internal tools

• You will also lead / contribute to designing the process & infrastructure needed to build, serve, and improve interfaces at scale; this covers topics like branding, design, user research, testing, experimentation, measurement, monitoring, and other tools to drive impact for customers

  • Ship frequently, iteratively, and collaboratively; tradeoff MVPs and customer impact with perfectly engineered systems
  • Implement scalable infrastructure and processes, e.g., test, experiment, monitor
  • Choose the best framework / technology for the task, even if you might have favourites. We work primarily in NextJS / React / Typescript / Vercel / Tailwind CSS, but we always experiment with what enables the greatest performance and delivers the most value
  • Create impactful data visualisations and wrangle large amounts of data
  • (optional) Own overall branding and external visuals for Heron Data
  • (optional) Create visual designs for interfaces and marketing material
  • (optional) Apply product growth to drive acquisition, e.g., SEO optimisation
