Our platform empowers merchants selling clean energy products by transforming billions of dollars in rebates into dramatically lower prices at checkout. By eliminating tedious paperwork and streamlining settlement processes, our software instantly applies rebates and manages transactions in the background. As a growing two-person team, we are seeking a Founding Software Engineer to join us in our mission.
Job Summary
The Founding Software Engineer will play a critical role in building Upfront. You will collaborate with the CTO in designing, building, and launching a number of foundational systems including – rebate underwriting, pipelines for rebate ingesting, and automated rebate filing.
No one has ever turned the mess of rebates into instant discounts before, and we’re looking for a self-starter who’s willing to take on the challenge of doing so. Our systems must be accurate, reliable, and comprehensive so that we can provide customers liquidity for upgrading their home in real time.
As a Founding Software Engineer, you will work closely with the CTO & CEO and contribute to the technical direction of the company, embodying our values every step of the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement backend services to help process rebates and facilitate payments
- Build new services with robust monitoring and observability so that we can confidently understand our systems
- Design and develop the v2.0 for our Upfront.js JavaScript library
- Plan and build new types of ecommerce integrations that make it easy for our customers to go-live with Upfront
- Help grow our engineering team, and grow as an engineering leader
Qualifications
- Curious and brave enough to navigate the complex world of rebates and tax credits, and can succeed in low information environments
- 5+ years experience working across the stack as a software engineer, with strong history of ownership
- A bias for executing and building quickly, taking measured risk, and learning fast
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid, small team environment
