Formal is a technology startup founded in July 2021 which has launched its product in Dec 2021. We already have paying customers and very strong traction.
We’re looking to bring on a Senior Backend Engineer to keep up with customer demand and help us bring Formal to the next stage.
This is a great time to join us as we are getting ready for our series A round while already signing leading unicorns.

About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer at Formal, you can expect to have a big impact on shaping the product and building the company. We are looking for someone willing to take responsibilities and build the tech team in the future.
You’ll take part in building the core product of Formal and have unprecedented ownership in :
- Building new product features from start to finish: through conception, research, implementation, and maintenance.
- Helping improve performance and reliability, or polish existing features
- Recruiting your future team members and coach them to help them grow
- Leading any initiative you think may have a strong impact on Formal
Our tech stack includes:
- Go and Rust for the backend
- AWS, GCP, Azure and Terraform for the cloud
- React and TypeScript for the Frontend
Who are you?
- You have expertise working with AWS
- You have experience deploying infrastructure using Terraform
- Familiarity or past experience with Go, Rust, C, C++ or a similar programming language
- Experience with container orchestration technologies, such as Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, ECS
- Experience debugging and optimizing complex production systems
- Track record of learning new technologies and concepts quickly
Bonus points:
- Experience with Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform
- Knowledge of streaming processing.
- Familiarity with message brokers (Kafka, Kinesis).
- Experience in databases, operating systems, networking, or other systems-level areas.
