We're looking for an engineer who can help build a culture of shipping product and talking to customers from day 1. We're based in New York City, but open to remote candidates.
SelectIQ is building a business in a highly regulated, unsexy part of the medical research industry. We're excited by going deep and learning secrets about an industry that most people don't even know exists. You should be too!
Our ideal candidate loves building software and wants to build their own startup at some point (or already has). We're flexible on your background, but candidates with less than 3 years of engineering experience are not likely to be a fit.
About the work
Our product securely integrates with electronic health record systems (EHRs/EMRs), processes structured and unstructured clinical data with the help of LLMs, and delivers powerful analytics through a user-friendly frontend.
The current stack:
- Backend: Node/Typescript
- Frontend: React/Typescript
- Infra: Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, S3, MongoDB, and Temporal
Work we have going on today:
- Building a query and ranking engine to match patients to trials based on their medical records
- Using LLMs to extract structured data from unstructured medical records, documents, and doctors' notes
- Scaling our ingestion pipeline to work reliably on tens to hundreds of gigabytes per customer
- We have to be HIPAA compliant, but our commitment to security goes well beyond our legal requirements: Improving security and privacy is a continuous project, and is to be a consideration of every technical decision
About the culture
Our mission is to transform the research industry, and our goal is to do that while hiring exceptional people slowly. You will be employee number one and will be responsible for shaping our culture. We want to do work that we can be proud of in terms of its product quality, impact for our customers, and shipping velocity. The founders met at Palantir and we're instilling many of the same engineering-first, do-what's-needed, and do-it-quickly principles at SelectIQ.
We're currently in-person with an office in NYC (in SoHo), but our goal is to build a remote company that comes together in person regularly. We're open to both in-person employees in NYC or remote employees who are willing to commit to a reasonable amount of travel for ~1 week every other month.
