At Wasp, we are building the next generation of web development technology - a compiled, stack-agnostic DSL for implementing full stack web-apps. Imagine Ruby on Rails as a language and not bound to the specific stack or architecture.
We are backed by Y Combinator’s and recently raised our seed round from several US & EU deep tech funds and early engineers from Facebook, Twitter and Airbnb.
If you are passionate about software engineering and building an OSS technology for fellow engineers that will shape the future of web development - read on!
Summary
-
build the future of web app development while working on the wide range of exciting topics (FE/BE/Infra, language design, compiler development, functional programming, ...)
-
work alongside experienced ex-Google and Palantir engineers and experience first-hand all aspects of building and growing a deep-tech company
-
have a key role in creating our engineering-first culture, defining best development practices and further hiring
-
have fun while doing what you love (which is of course programming)
-
you are: an experienced general and/or Haskell engineer who is passionate about their work and want the impact and flexibility of working in a startup
Key responsibilities
- As a founding team member, you will work together with founders on setting the foundations of both our team and engineering culture. You will own the product roadmap and steer the ship together with us.
- You will work on the core part of Wasp - our compiler that is written in Haskell (don’t worry if you don’t know it yet! We are following Boring Haskell movement and you’ll catch up quickly)
- You will incorporate and use the latest web app development practices and use the cutting edge stack to do it - React, Node.js, Typescript/Javascript, Docker, … . And once the cutting edge becomes something new, you will be working on it too, since Wasp will always advance together with the web dev ecosystem.
- You will talk to our Discord community, collaborate with our OSS contributors, present your work and become a thought leader (if you wish) in the new era of web development
- To summarise: you will be working together with us on mostly everything :): programming, brainstorming, creating, leading, and having great fun while doing it.
Who are we looking for
- You are an experienced general/full-stack engineer who feels comfortable building production-ready systems but are also not afraid of tackling more foundational Comp Sci problems (e.g. building a compiler)
- You are passionate about the code you write - for you it is not just work, it is a craft
- You have solid Computer Science foundations - algorithms, data structures, compilers. Even if it might not be something you use every day, you find it exciting and know where to look for the answers
- You have 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience
- You mentored engineers & peer-reviewed code
- You are curious how things work, enjoy looking under the hood and are not afraid to challenge the existing solutions
- You are proactive, self-starter and love taking initiative
- You could easily work for Google or Facebook but want the impact and flexibility of a startup
