About the role:
As an Engineering Manager on the Platform team, your job is to build and lead the team that makes the secret sauce behind Replit. The Platform team gives a free computer in the Cloud to anybody who wants to create software, supports any language/framework they desire, and then scales to handle any project they can imagine. Your job is to build a high performing team, set strategic direction, and get your hands dirty to help execute where needed.
Examples of what you could do:
- Lead the team through major infrastructure efforts that make Replit faster, more reliable, and more powerful. Check out recent work on geo distribution: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
- Launch the world’s easiest to use Cloud hosting platform with Replit Deployments.
- Make big bets on technologies like Nix to extend the power of our platform.
- Manage Replit’s biggest budget, finding ways to save and spend money in the ways that help users most.
You will…
- Hire and retain a high performance team of technically talented, creative, and driven builders.
- Be decisive on team strategy and direction, helping Replit achieve company goals and its long term mission of bringing a billion software creators online.
- Drive the team to operational excellence, keeping the Platform fast and reliable while learning from failures in order to improve.
- Roll up your sleeves and pitch in on projects, on-call duties, and other team activities.
Required skills and experience:
- Experience managing a high performance team working on platforms, infrastructure, or developer tooling.
- Experience as a Software Engineer working to build platforms, infrastructure or developer tooling.
Bonus Points:
- Experience working at a fast growth startup, balancing immediate scaling challenges with major project initiatives.
- Experience working with SRE or other similar teams to continually improve engineering operations.
- Experience managing significant Cloud budgets and collaborating with finance teams.
- Experience working with IDEs, terminals, or other common developer tools.
