Cheqout (YC W21) is changing the face of ordering & payments when you dine in-person at a restaurant. We are currently deployed at over 100 locations and last month, we grew revenues > 150% month on month.
You'll be joining a small team of 3 engineers and growing with us.
If you're interested in restaurants & payments, this would be a good fit. This is a startup job & we are currently in a good position with sufficient funding, traction and a focused team.

What you’ll Do:
- Develop backend integrations with payment gateways and vendors
- Build graphql endpoints to support different clients in the Cheqout ecosystem
- Work with business team to jointly deliver key-features and critical bug fixes that affect bottom line
- Collaborate with engineering team to upgrade how we build, test, and deploy code
Expectations of Success:
- (Day 1) System setup to develop in Elixir. Able to commit and deploy cosmetic change (eg. text) to production.
- (Week 1) First small feature is deployed. Have sat in a couple field support calls.
- (Month 1) Several small features and 1 medium feature deployed. Have independently fixed a bug from report to end.
- (Quarter 1) 1-2 large multi-week features completed. Have been in the field a few times to understand the on the ground reality.
What you’ll need:
- Onsite in SF
- Looking for 2 Years experience working in Elixir
- Interested in wearing many hats of product development and learning different parts of the tech stack: (Elixir for backend, React for website, React-Native for Customer App, Kotlin for Restaurant App)
- Interested in designing systems and building strategy, not just implementation
- Open to providing assistance to sales and customer support teams if necessary
Nice to Have:
- Previous exposure to architectural patterns of a large, high-scale web application (e.g., well-designed APIs, high volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms).
- Ideally have some front-end experience in React & React Native
