We are searching for a Director of Business Development to join our team.

Oklo works to design, build, and operate clean power plants using advanced fission.  There are an incredible number of use cases and existing interested customers for the Oklo offering of “fission as a service.”  Oklo needs someone to manage these relationships and negotiate term sheets, etc, while growing the existing customer base and prioritizing the nearest term customers.

This role involves more than theoretical strategy development and is aligned with managing existing relationships as well as developing relationships as well as a willingness to create content and oversee a team and work closely with the Oklo executive team.

The person in this role may benefit from a technical background, but one is not required.  Similarly, the person in this role may benefit from a background in finance.  At minimum, a basic understanding of financial documents, project financing strategy, customer contracts and negotiation will be expected.

Ideally, this person has overseen successful B2B sales and/or business development at a hard tech company.  Understanding of the power industry, power purchases, and similar topics may be beneficial but not necessary.  Overall, we are looking for a dynamic, engaging, well-spoken, positive, hard-working person to lead and grow a team to manage and grow customer relationships.  We welcome veteran applicants.  The ideal candidate is able to clearly communicate details as needed without over-complication and to enable customer understanding of relevant factors.

 

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Developing and implementing company strategy, building on existing relationships and strategy.
  • Developing presentation materials for meetings, meeting setup and coordination.
  • Working directly and often with the executives to pick up on existing relationships and develop strategy.
  • Working with the Director of Communications and Media as far as messaging and marketing related work.
  • Working with existing Oklo team members to pull in specific technical expertise as needed for customer project development.
  • Recruiting and building a business development team.
  • Traveling to meetings either at Oklo headquarters, in DC, or local to a customer.  Estimated travel being approximately once monthly but may be flexible.
