Compensation: $70,000 - $95,000 plus equity and generous benefits
At Ananya Health, we develop affordable, appropriate medical technologies to address the biggest issues in global public health. We are seeking a passionate mid-level product development engineer for a full-time position to join our team in San Francisco (Potrero Hill).
Position Description
As a development engineer, you will support the development of our flagship hardware product — a portable device to treat cervical pre-cancer in any clinic, anywhere. You will be responsible for product concept ideation, translating customer feedback, prototyping, testing, design verification and validation, and manufacturing transfer. You will collaborate with a strong and passionate cross-functional team to support regulatory submissions, commercial introduction, and post-market surveillance to ensure on-time delivery of high quality products that meet user needs. Together, we will expand access to standard-of-care therapies for patients across the globe.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform or support every aspect of product design and development from ideation and prototyping through manufacturing transfer to production
- Support the cross-functional project team (e.g., Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, Manufacturing, Operations, etc.)
- Generate and approve protocols, reports, product specifications, procedures, and documentation
- Interact with suppliers, vendors, and customers to facilitate design decisions
- Prototype with machine shop equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., mills, lathes, drill presses, soldering irons, brazing torches)
- Operate in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in hardware product development or medical device industry
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Experience in applying scientific methods, benchtop testing, and building fixtures
- Ability to work independently, with initiative to identify problems, analyze available data, and pursue solutions
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace
- Proficiency in comprehending and creating mechanical specifications and drawings
- Experience with refrigeration/HVAC systems or thermodynamics applications is a plus, and bonus points if you have a Section 608 / 609 certification
- Ability to occasionally (<10%) travel within the US and internationally
- Most importantly, a passion for designing great products that expand access to care
