AMILI is seeking a Data Scientist based in Malaysia as we continue our growth journey across Southeast Asia. This role will report to our Chief Technology Officer and will work cross-functionally to deliver projects.

What you will be doing:
- Defining clear technical specifications from high-level business requirements
- Determining the most deployable approaches, and having the motivation to explore them independently
- Communicating effectively with our team of advisors and experts in biotech and healthcare, and drawing on life sciences literature for guidance
- Conducting visualization and exploratory analysis of large datasets and presenting technical results to a non-technical leadership audience
- Writing scientifically, and contributing to publications describing our findings
- Understanding of Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques for text representation, semantic extraction techniques, data structures, and modeling
- Design NLP applications
- Select appropriate annotated datasets for Supervised Learning methods
- Use effective text representations to transform natural language into useful features
- Find and implement the right algorithms and tools for NLP tasks
- Develop NLP systems according to requirements
- Train the developed model and run evaluation experiments
- Perform statistical analysis of results and refine models
- Extend ML libraries and frameworks to apply in NLP tasks
- Remain updated in the rapidly changing field of machine learning
What you will need?
- Minimum Bachelors education in Bio-Statistics, CS or related field
- 1 - 3 years of working
- Experience in an alliance/liaison role with partner companies
- Is able to work independently and pivot quickly
- Is able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
What skills do you need to excel in this role?
- Has strong Machine Learning experience
- Has experience with supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms
- Uses Python (NumPy, scipy, pandas), SQL, etc. extensively
- Ability to write robust and testable code
What is good to have?
- Knowledge of Python, Java, and R
- 3 years of working experience
- The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Previous experience working in a start-up environment
