Summary

The Controller position leads the Accounting function within the Finance team. This role is responsible for every aspect of the GL, from source document to financial statement. The position focuses on ensuring efficient and accurate processing of purchase to pay and orders to cash transactions.  The Controller is responsible for preparing general ledger schedules/journal entries/reconciliations and leading month end closing. The role should also interpret and apply company accounting policy, identify process improvement opportunities in a fast-growing and dynamic startup environment.

 Essential Functions

• Manage aspects of month-end and year-end close process.
• Manage aspects of the general ledger. Record journal entries, maintain schedules, and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and review financial reports for the purpose of ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions. Correct errors.
• Manage aspects of revenue cycle and accounts receivable. Ensure quotes, contracts, agreements, and purchase orders are received and in order. Invoice customers, process payments, monitor AR aging and collections.
• Supervise aspects of expenditures cycle and accounts payable. Process invoices, monitor AP aging, and issue payments. Administer expense reporting systems and ensure smooth operation.
• Support payroll process. Calculate sales commissions & enter accruals.
• Research technical accounting issues. Suggest and document accounting treatment and relevant GAAP.
• Support preparation of financial reports for senior management and external parties. Be go-to person for senior management's questions and concerns regarding these reports.
• Identify areas for process and procedure improvements, both within the accounting department and cross-departmentally, with a focus on better utilization of technology to drive those improvements.
• Assist and/or lead special projects, including selecting and implementing new software systems.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• At least five years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience using financial data to make recommendations to business leaders

Preferred Education and Experience

• Experience at high-growth technology startup companies.
• QuickBooks Online and mid-market ERP experience.
• Fluent in other Accounting systems like Expensify, CaptivateIQ, Bill.com, Salesforce, TSheets (or similar/equivalent systems)
• Reporting experience with multiple entities and/or currencies
• FP&A, treasury, audit, and/or tax experience

NYC Pay Transparency Disclosure:

Salary Range: $160,000.00 to $240,000.00 annually plus equity and perks.
This salary range is based on the current available market data, and represents the expected salary range for this role. Gecko Robotics has minimal hierarchy and few titles, but has broad ranges of experience represented within roles.
