About the Role
We are looking for a Content Analyst who will work closely with all departments of the company to help understand how our content drives the business forward. As a content analyst, you will identify the types of content that resonate most with our audiences and deliver these insights to our teams. Our ideal candidate will combine their intuition for great sports content with a strong, data-driven approach to measure and contextualize the value of different story types to our subscribers. Our analyst will work very closely with our editorial team to deliver insights on what’s working and what can be improved with our product.
Responsibilities
- Content Feedback: Provides regular feedback and insights to the newsroom with regularity and working with writers to hit business goals. Comfortable working with multiple editorial teams.
- Trend identification: Flag and promote over-performing content (both written and audio) to optimise paid/organic marketing around.
- Content Understanding: Analyst has a good understanding of the editorial process and is able to clearly identify what makes a piece of content strong.
- Content Planning:Analyst is able to create a content strategy plan for groups based on the performance of existing content.
- New Projects: Analyst is able to accept new responsibilities and develop new parts of the business.
- Data: Analyst is able to develop some new dashboards independently and partner with the data team to develop more complex tables and dashboards.
- Cross Functional: Works with large XFN groups in order to understand problems and provide business recommendations.
Requirements
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics or other quantitative field.
- 3+ years of prior experience in a data scientist or content analyst role.
- Extensive knowledge of the UK sports media landscape.
- Ability to read through articles across all sports and identify characteristics for each story.
- Ability to consolidate findings and communicate analysis to the editorial team in an easy to understand manner.
- Must be proficient in SQL and Excel.
- Preferred experience with Python, R, or another scripting language.
- Ability to multitask and self-manage projects.
- Ability to quickly ramp up on new projects.
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguous, open-ended problems.
- Ability to remain objective and deliver constructive analysis.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-moving start-up.
- The position is based in the UK and you’d expected to be in the London office 2-3 days a week ideally.
