Noya is reversing climate change by removing CO2 from the atmosphere. We’re a small, scrappy team of engineers and scientists taking on the biggest problem anybody could be working on. We’ve developed a new process that will use existing industrial equipment to pull CO2 out of thin air, with dramatically lower capital and operating expenses than other carbon capture approaches.

YOUR MISSION IN THIS ROLE

This role is fundamental to the long-term success of our mission. Your technical expertise will help you design the first hyper-scalable machines that pull CO2 out of air. As a Chemical Engineer at Noya, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and implementing systems for CO2. You will participate in company-wide discussions and brainstorm sessions to develop the best systems in the world to help our planet reverse climate change. You will then take these ideas from prototyping all the way through to implementation.

And on top of all that, you will dive head-first into a sea of future potential full of unimaginable growth opportunities. Ultimately, we are looking for a curious engineer who wants to help solidify a bright future for all of humanity.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Help scale our novel process from bench top to commercialization, including writing technology transfer documents and patents
  • Develop techno-economic assessments for existing and incumbent processes, and use these models to inform * * R&D targets, company objectives and key results, and research direction
  • Design and test prototypes and production ready carbon capture machines
  • Perform material and energy balances focusing on lowering costs and embodies carbon emissions of carbon capture systems
  • Develop computer models (ASPEN, COMSOL) to better inform unit operation design and process design
  • Design and optimize post capture processing systems of compression and purification
  • Design and execute bench top scoping studies to inform carbon capture development
  • Design at-scale processes carbon capture and storage

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s and Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Experience with solid and liquid sorbents
  • Experience with techno-economic assessments (TEAs) required
  • Comfortable in a lab, ability to self-direct wet lab experimental design and execution required
  • Ability to size and procure bench top and pilot equipment and develop preliminary sizing/scoping for industrial scale unit operations required
  • Experience with flowsheet design software (ex: ASPEN)
  • Skills with COMSOL or other PED model builder
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience developing mechanical and thermal management control algorithms for industrial applications
  • Comfortable pursuing ill-defined optimization problems with minimal input from management
  • Experience in pilot plants
