Why do we need you?
- PostEra’s product and engineering team is looking for an experienced backend engineer to join the team with a focus on our data engineering and search solutions.
What will you be working on?
- The average drug discovery campaign generates vast amounts of chemical data. When you couple that with generate AI technology, the amount of data a chemist needs to navigate and make decisions with is quite large.
- You will help build out search/filter/sort solutions for existing and new data visualization tools, improve our data pipelines, and work on chemical structure search solutions for chemists to navigate the aforementioned data.

- You will work with PostEra’s team of engineers, machine learning researchers, and chemists to offer responsive, reliable, and secure data access and search solutions, iterating on existing solutions and innovating on novel improvements
Desired skills and experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
- 2+ years work experience
- Enthusiastic about test-driven development with a track-record building robust, stable, well-tested technology
- Experience developing REST APIs for internal and client-facing consumption
- Strong experience working with modern Python (typing)
- Python-based backend frameworks with ORMs (Django) or frameworks with external ORMs (Flask + SQLAlchemy)
- You have a deep understanding of modern database systems and the ecosystem around them
- Experience with developing robust database search infrastructure and algorithms
- Enthusiastic about building a modern, AI focused biotech!
Bonus
- Experience building scientific applications and algorithms
- Experience (directly or worked closely with a team using these tools) across our tech-stack: Python/Django, TypeScript/React, AWS, Terraform, React
- Experience building compliant (SOC 2, ISO 27001) systems
Salary: 120k - 160k
