At Windwalk, we strive to build the strongest network of communities, for our own games as well as for our clients. Windwalk’s Community team is growing quickly and we have an exciting, ambitious roadmap ahead of us. As an early Community hire, you will have the opportunity to wear many hats as we grow and scale our company.

You will be the first hire responsible for building and operating the code + infrastructure to support our unique community experiences. As part of this new team you can expect to be gathering requirements from community managers, implementing new features for our custom discord bots, and architecting/deploying the infrastructure to support our rapidly growing communities.

As a team, we favor progress, learning, and speed over perfection. We are a fully-remote international team, where everyone works autonomously with the expectation that you can be available for team syncs during the same core hours (8:00 am through 10:00 am PST). The exact times and days vary per team. We offer competitive compensation that is location and level based.

WHAT WE NEED:

  • Someone who can build Discord bots and the backend for accompanying web apps using C# on AWS infrastructure.
  • Someone who can maintain and improve our existing live services through code contributions and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Someone who is excited to work close to product, distilling the needs of community managers and moderators into concrete project specs.
  • Someone who’d love to build more of these:
    • Interactive Discord bots (i.e. !slay, gatcha-style games)
    • Discord live event tools (i.e. drops, giveaways)
    • Discord admin tooling and dashboards (i.e. raid prevention, bulk operations)
    • Rich web apps that live alongside Discord communities (i.e. web3 whitelisting flow)

WHAT YOU HAVE:

  • You know how to write and maintain code.
    • Good code is a balance between timeliness and maintainability. You have hands-on experience building cool stuff that gives you strong instincts on how to best maintain this balance.
  • You are product-minded and collaborative.
    • We don’t have a hierarchy of PMs that distill requirements for you into a nice checklist - you (and your team) are the PMs. You have experience building software in an uncertain environment and know that the best way to build the right stuff is to ask the right questions.
  • You are familiar with C#.
    • You don’t need to be a wizard whose wall is plastered with MS certifications, but you do need to be able to orient yourself in an existing dotnet core codebase and understand the standard libraries.
  • You aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty with live-ops and systems architecture.
    • We believe that those who write the code should understand and own how it runs. This means that when something you wrote breaks, you know where to find the logs and how to triage a live services.
    • You know how to design a service stack for a project you own and have some intuition for how to scale existing projects.
