WHO WE ARE
Noora Health India Private Limited is a key partner in Noora Health’s mission is to improve outcomes and strengthen health systems by equipping family caregivers with the skills they need to care for their loved ones. They develop content, technology platforms, new products, and strengthen other operational functions that support the scale and impact of Noora Health’s programs.
Founded in 2014, Noora Health turns hospital hallways and waiting rooms into classrooms by tapping into the most compassionate resources available for the patient’s care: their own family.
With support from governments and partners in India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Nepal, Noora Health has trained more than 58 million caregivers and patients across 16,300+ facilities using their flagship caregiver education and training curriculum, the Care Companion Program (CCP).
In a cohort of patients, the CCP reduced post-surgical cardiac complications by 71%, maternal complications by 12%, newborn complications by 16%, and newborn mortality by 18%.
Noora Health is an Audacious Project Grantee and received the Skoll Foundation Award for Social Innovation. To learn more, watch our TED Talk, Skoll feature, or read about our partnership with the World Health Organization.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Noora Health is an 11+ year organization with deep government relationships and a proven field model with operations across four countries. Technology will play an increasingly important role in how we support families, health workers, and public health institutions. Noora Health would like to re-imagine how we scale, balancing its traditional high-touch approach with high-tech capabilities.
Our technology is nascent and rapidly evolving. We have a small and growing engineering team (currently ~14 engineers), a conversational AI platform that is live but evolving, and a set of hard unsolved problems around how AI behaves safely and reliably in high-stakes health contexts for users with variable literacy and intermittent connectivity.
As we move towards a more catalytic era of growth, we are exploring how to:
- Make AI-generated health guidance genuinely safe at scale,
- Architect a system that can integrate with government health systems across different country contexts.
- Build an engineering culture that attracts strong technical talent into the global health space
- Build a strong system to leverage data insights to elevate the quality of care and support
Key responsibilities include:
- Technology Strategy & Architecture
- Define and own the architecture for a platform built to reach 100 million caregivers — resilient across low-connectivity environments, interoperable with government health systems, and designed to evolve as AI capabilities mature.
- Partner closely with Noora Health’s product leadership to translate product strategy into scalable, secure, and high-quality technical systems.
- Communicate the vision to all stakeholders, including team, funders, and partners, to align on where we're going.
- Engineering Leadership
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering organization; currently ~14 engineers — with a mandate to scale the team thoughtfully as the platform grows. Foster a culture of quality, speed, and technical rigor, and help establish Noora Health as a destination for engineers who want their work to matter.
- Responsible AI
- Own Noora Health's approach to responsible AI not as a compliance checkbox, but as a technical and ethical discipline. This means building systems where model behavior is predictable, auditable, and safe in high-stakes health contexts; where failure modes are understood before deployment; and where the communities we serve are not harmed by the technology meant to support them.
- Security & Governance
- Own technical governance across Noora Health’s digital health products and technology systems.
- Partner with legal, product, and country teams to ensure Noora Health’s technology meets appropriate standards and regulatory frameworks across countries.
- Government & External Partnerships
- Represent Noora Health in technical conversations with government stakeholders, funders, technology partners, and global health collaborators.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a technology leader with experience in software engineering, including significant experience leading engineering teams and owning technical strategy for scaled products or platforms.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a builder first
- Experience in setting and executing technology strategy
- Strong judgment across scalable system design, architecture, AI/ML integration, and security
- Proven experience building and managing high-performing engineering teams
- Practical experience with AI-enabled products, conversational platforms, health technology, or large-scale user-facing platforms
- Familiarity with privacy, security, data governance, and responsible technology practices in sensitive or highly regulated environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
Additional preferred experience:
- Prior experience in healthcare technology, public health, global health, digital public goods, or related domains
- Experience integrating technology with government systems
- Experience deploying AI/ML or LLM-enabled systems, especially in sensitive or high-stakes contexts
- Familiarity with conversational platforms, WhatsApp-based systems, RAG systems, or health workflow tools
- Experience working across low and middle-income country contexts
- Familiarity with healthcare privacy regulations and data protection standards, such as HIPAA, GDPR, India’s DPDP Act, or other relevant frameworks
If you're a technologist who has wondered whether your skills could do more good in the world this is that role. This role thrives in a fast-moving, resource-constrained, startup-like environment where teams collaborate closely, make decisions quickly, and build together. It is best suited for someone who is deeply hands-on, motivated by mission and impact, and excited to create alongside engineering, product, and public health teams rather than operate within highly structured, well-resourced environments.
WHAT WE VALUE
We value diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we understand the value of developing a team with different perspectives, educational backgrounds, and life experiences. We prioritize diversity within our team, and we welcome candidates from all gender identities, castes, religious practices, sexual orientations, and abilities — among many others.
We encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
