We’re a hybrid organization built on remote-first principles across US time zones. We have quarterly offsites for the team to get together in-person and also plan virtual team events in between. Our team more than tripled in size in 2024 and we have ambitious goals to continue to scale the team throughout 2025. As our People Operations Lead, you will develop and advance our people operations to support our rapid growth and provide an exceptional employee experience. 

You’ll work directly with the team to develop initiatives to support the people at Stable. Here are a few examples of the types of responsibilities you’ll have:

  • Make Stable an amazing place to work — You’ll be the voice of the employee and it will be your responsibility to understand how we can ensure that employees continue to be motivated and engaged. From planning virtual team events to onboarding new team members, you’ll be leading initiatives that directly impact employee engagement. 
  • Standardize performance management frameworks — You’ll develop standardized performance review cycles and promotion criteria so that every employee has a clear understanding of their role’s expectations. You’ll also manage and continually improve our compensation and benefits programs so we continue to attract and retain top talent. As our teams expand and new positions are created, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring transparency, fairness, and consistency across the organization. 
  • Take lead on operational tasks — No task is too small for you and you’re eager to support the team in operational tasks such as managing our New York office and virtual mailbox (with Stable, of course 🙂).

✅ What you'll do

  • Manage employee experience, including onboarding, offboarding, and everything in between
  • Maintain the Company Handbook, ensuring that our policies are updated as the team expands
  • Ensure employees adhere to company policies and practices as we scale 
  • Plan initiatives to promote team bonding and culture
  • Handle payroll and benefits administration for employees and contractors
  • Support talent acquisition team to drive hiring goals
  • Create a standardized process to manage performance and compensation across teams
  • Manage workplace experience in our New York office
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and global employment laws and regulations
  • Support managers in employee relations to foster a positive and productive workplace culture
  • Proactively identify how we can innovate and improve people operations 

✨ Requirements

  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to New York City. This is a hybrid position that requires at least 1 day per week in the office
  • 3-5+ years experience in a People Ops role
  • Experience in HR operations, employee experience, and workplace management, with a deep understanding of employment best practices and compliance requirements
  • Experience working with HR tools (payroll, benefits, performance management, ATS, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships at all levels of the organization 
  • Experience working in a startup environment and building employee programs from the ground up is a plus
