Research Engineer (Mass Spectrometry, Instrumentation, and Field Applications)
Location: Atlanta
Company Overview:
Andson Biotech’s mission is to empower mass spectrometry for biotech and beyond. Our flagship products, DynaCHIP and DynaMARK, work together to democratize mass spectrometry for next-gen biopharma applications. DynaCHIP is an advanced microfluidics platform that provides real-time, flow-through sample prep, and DynaMARK is a machine learning software module that provides on-demand advanced bioanalytics. As we approach our commercial launch of our DynaCHIP platform in Q3 2024, we seek a dedicated and knowledgeable mass spectrometry / engineering expert to join our team.
Role Summary:
This unique position is a blend of bioscience expertise and engineering mindset, focusing on the application of mass spectrometry technologies for biotherapeutic discovery and development. The ideal candidate will have substantial hands-on experience in mass spectrometry, particularly with large-molecule workflows and diverse analytical methodologies while being willing to think beyond the confines of traditional mass spectrometry. Expertise in microfluidics, instrumentation, and/or electronics will be considered valuable assets.
Key Responsibilities:
• Utilize your combined expertise in mass spec and engineering to continually advance DynaCHIP's design and application for advanced therapies workflows, enhancing its compatibility, seamless operation and functional performance across diverse mass spectrometry methods.
• Oversee and conduct laboratory experiments for both internal developmental activities (e.g., publications, application notes and conference presentations) and customer pilots, applying your expertise in mass spectrometry, proteomics, and bioanalytical techniques.
• Drive product development by incorporating voice of customer insights and staying attuned to industry trends and competitor advancements to ensure our solutions lead in technological innovation.
• Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams, providing vital input for product development and enhancements based on field insights and technical expertise.
• Engage with customers to configure and deploy units and retrieve voice of customer feedback.
• Engage in comprehensive training and support for customers, guiding them in the effective application of our technology in their specific mass spec workflows.
• Troubleshoot and maintain equipment, offering expert solutions to technical challenges.
• Help orchestrate and write non-dilutive grants (e.g., SBIRs).
Technical Qualifications:
• PhD with 2+ years of experience or BS/MS with 7+ years experience in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience (graduate work and/or professional) in mass spectrometry, preferably nanoESI, with a strong preference for experience in large molecule analysis (e.g., intact, native or top-down workflows).
• Experimentalist: hands on lab experience is a MUST - you will be expected to independently debug and develop complex research tools everyday.
• Bio-skillsets (in order of importance): mass spectrometry, cell-culture, other assay development for biopharma/biotech applications
