About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientist to join our dynamic team at Cleancard. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for developing novel assay technologies for clinical applications. As a member of our R&D team, you will work closely with Cleancard’s Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Product. You will collaborate with experts across the fields of computer science, molecular biology, and assay development, to bring our first diagnostic offerings to market. This role is based in our San Francisco (Dogpatch) laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design, development, and optimization of innovative diagnostic assays.
- Experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation to validate assay performance.
- Help foster a culture of innovation and scientific excellence within the team
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in diagnostic technologies and contribute to the company's strategic R&D initiatives.
- Support presentation of findings to internal and external stakeholders, including at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.
Qualifications:
- Candidates should hold a postgraduate degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, with 1+ years of industry experience.
- Experience with assay development for biosensor technologies or medical devices (experience with point-of-care diagnostics highly desired).
- Understanding of molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, qPCR, next-generation sequencing, plate reader assays, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, and related technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to innovation.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to successfully participate in a fast-paced, highly creative and enthusiastic, start-up environment with people who are motivated to succeed together as a team.
