You’ll be joining our in-person team of engineers and physicists with backgrounds from Rivian, Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, Shopify, U. Cambridge and other YC start-ups.

Our mission

• Batteries play a key role in tackling climate change. $73B was invested in US battery plants in 2022, and battery company revenue is expected to grow >5x over the next decade.
• Global carmakers alone are forecast to spend $515B on electric vehicle and battery R&D by 2030. But battery engineers are woefully underserved by software, relying on broken legacy products to analyze their data. Most data is never analyzed or used meaningfully.
• Byterat is the first platform to provide battery teams with the infrastructure they need to unlock business value from their battery data. Byterat is live in battery labs across three continents today, allowing teams to analyze data from thousands of parallel experiments and unlock previously hidden insights connecting battery design to performance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in front-end development with a strong portfolio showcasing complex web applications.
• Proficient in TypeScript, JavaScript frameworks (React.js, Redux, GraphQL), and related technologies.
• Deep understanding of the presentation layer, including CSS pre-processors (Sass, LESS), CSS-in-JS (Styled Components, Emotion), and design systems.
• Ability to work closely with designers and apply principles of responsive design, accessibility (WCAG standards), and user-centered design.
• Experienced in front-end performance optimization techniques, such as lazy loading, code splitting, and minimizing render times.
• Strong experience with front-end testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library) and debugging tools (Chrome DevTools).
• Proficient in using Git and Git workflows, with experience in REST and GraphQL APIs and asynchronous code.
• Skilled in systematic troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis.

Preferred qualifications

• CI/CD & Deployment: Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Experience with Event/Data Streams
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with authentication and identity management.
• Bonus: Exposure to manufacturing processes.
• BONUS: You have experience building front-end components for data visualization, analytics and modeling web applications.

The role

• Lead the development of next-generation features from prototype to end-of-life, creating reactive user interfaces tailored for multiple personas.
• Design and optimize highly reliable, scalable, and distributed micro-services.
• Utilize automation to streamline processes and meet project milestones efficiently.
• Build and refine design mocks and wireframes, ensuring user-friendly and visually appealing interfaces.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimize applications for performance and scalability.
• Implement best practices for front-end development, including code reviews, testing, and performance optimization.
