💼 About the position:

Join us as Software Engineering Manager to bring clean solar energy to Mexico! Work with our Software team and play a critical role in achieving Bright’s goals by aligning the Software team with the company's priorities. You'll be responsible for managing our small but mighty engineering team, setting up sprint structures and prioritization tools, and leading many of our engineering efforts to enable the entire solar ecosystem in Mexico, Latin America, and hopefully the rest of the developing world.

🥇 We’re looking for someone who:

• Has >6 years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar roles

• Has the following skills:

  • Full-stack background:
    • You’ve potentially led development in projects before and built from the ground up
    • Because we're still a small team, you may start as a player-coach manager
  • Is pragmatic:
    • Can prioritize and say no when needed
  • Communication:
    • Comfortable communicating and working with non-engineers (we work with almost every team at Bright in some capacity, from interns to the CEO)
    • Has fluency in technical English (Spanish is a bonus)
  • Plus, for experience with:
    • Postgres or a similar SQL database (we are big fans of Postgres), node.js, Go (or both), data modeling skills for use in SQL or Redis, SPAs, React, Tailwind CSS, Material UI, GraphQL (Apollo), Retool (as the frontend for many internal tools)
  • Our stack:
    • PostgreSQL + PostGIS
    • EC2, S3, and SQS on AWS
    • Redis
    • Node.js, Go, GraphQL
    • React
    • Retool (for the front end of many internal tools)
  • Has prior startup experience and demonstrated product intuition
  • Wants to expand their scope beyond engineering and elevate impact to product vision, team composition, and beyond
  • Is not afraid to get into the nitty gritty of UI/UX and is open to doing workshops with our partners, etc. (desirable)

💻 Your tasks and responsibilities will be:

• Manage our small but mighty engineering team, setting up the right sprint structures and prioritization tools to best enable them
• Collaborate closely with our product and product design leads to set up the team for success and ensure they are focused and stay in flow.
• Build! We want you to code, move quickly, and contribute real impact.
