Why we think you’ll want to join us

  • A mission you can be proud of: We are in the decade of climate action. More than ever we need the best and brightest brains of our generation finding solutions to climate change.
  • Product leaders and design peers to learn from: Product thinking is instilled at the highest levels of leadership: the CEO Valerio was a PM at Monzo, Google and Facebook; the Director of Product Susana ****is a B2B product veteran. You’ll be joining a small team of designers (Lucija and Alex) that will support you, challenge you and help you develop your craft.
  • Early stage fun: Some of our products have product market fit, others are still on that journey. By joining early you’ll be key to discovering and shipping the products that will have the highest possible impact on climate, people and nature.
  • Well funded: We taken over $16.6M funding from the likes of Global Founders Capital, Blue Bear Capital and Y Combinator (S21) and have a solid multi-year runway.
  • Work life balance: Despite being early stage, we unplug on evenings and weekends, and offer at least 13 weeks full pay parental leave for both caregivers. Learn more about our benefits.
  • Transparent and high integrity culture: From sharing salaries in job specs and giving everyone in the company visibility of our financial position (including burn rate and runway), to informing a competitor when they accidentally leaked some of their IP. Our values guide our behaviour.

About Abatable

Abatable’s mission is to enable corporate climate action by building the infrastructure for businesses and investors to navigate, access and support credible climate solutions delivering long-lasting positive environmental and social impact. The team is achieving this by backing innovative, high-quality carbon projects alongside leveraging a product-led approach to scaleable solutions.

Abatable was founded in July 2021 and we are backed by experienced investors such as Global Founders Capital, Blue Bear Capital, Y Combinator (S21) and Azora.

We are a diverse team working in a hybrid setup and across two cities - London and Amsterdam. We put our values and our mission front and centre with everything we do, if you want to know more, read about our team and values on our About us page.

About the role

You’ll be joining us as second product designer, interim reporting to our Head of Engineering Dan, while our Director of Product Susana is on parental leave. You’ll be joining a small but mighty team of designers (Lucija and Alex) that will support you, challenge you and help you develop your craft.

We’re looking for someone who’s excited to learn about the carbon markets, to work closely in our agile product engineering and data team. You’ll be taking insights across the business and the market to discover and deliver products that drive climate impact.

Our Product and Engineering function is based in London, with a hybrid set up of two days in the office (Tuesdays and Thursdays). You’ll have opportunity to build strong bonds and enjoy the occasional post work social. You can check out the size and members of our team in our team page.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing products end-to-end, you will be heavily involved in every stage of the product discovery and development process; including research, ideation, journey-mapping, prototyping and testing
  • Working cross-functionally with your engineering, product, data and carbon markets specialist peers to discover and translate business needs into delightful and accessible user journeys aligned with the product team’s OKRs
  • Planning and running user interviews, capturing valuable insights to continuously improve our products
  • Analysing market trends, user feedback, and competitor activities to identify new product opportunities and enhancements and influence our product strategy and roadmap
  • Prototyping new ideas and features and take them to market to test our assumptions
  • Collaborating closely with the other designers in the team to help shape our design practices and processes and contribute to our design system

Who you are

  • An established Product Designer. You have experience with major cycles of problem discovery and solution definition of software products. You ideally have 3+ years direct Product Design experience, and demonstrated product level (not feature) impact.
  • Strong product-centric mindset. As an early-stage startup, it is important to us that everyone deeply understands what we're trying to build, who we're trying to build it for, and how to get there.
  • Self-starter. We’re an early-stage company in an evolving market which means our positioning, products and value proposition can change quickly.
  • Growth mindset. You understand that growth requires some failure and actively seek feedback on both your work and your style
  • Outcome-focused. You naturally focus on the user and their problems, as opposed to the fine details of the solution
  • Exceptional communication skills. You have the ability to simplify complex or technical content in a concise and accessible way

Desirable

  • Experience in a B2B context
  • Experience with data products and platforms or experience in climate tech / sustainability

Don’t tick all the boxes, but still think you’d be a good fit? Apply anyway and show us what you can do.

What we offer

  • The choice to structure your compensation package, with a competitive salary and a generous share options package
  • Hybrid working model
  • Holidays: 25 days holiday (excl. bank holidays) + one bonus for your birthday
  • Equipment: We use Apple. We want to provide you with whatever you need to work effectively, so let us know your preference. Displays, mouse and keyboards are standard issue. Need software licenses? We’ve got you covered
  • Health insurance: including mental health cover to holistically support your wellbeing
  • Family leave policy: 26 weeks at 100% pay for the primary caregiver and 13 weeks at 100% pay for the secondary caregiver, plus unpaid leave and flexible return to work arrangements
  • Pension enrolment for all employees
  • Learning and Development budget of £500 per year
  • Cycle to work scheme (UK only)

We are actively creating a fair environment for every employee to be their best

We embrace diversity in all of its forms and create an inclusive environment for all people to do the best work of their lives (so far) with us. This is integral to our mission of building trust and integrity in the carbon markets.

We’re an equal-opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, veteran, neurodiversity status or disability status.
