In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In November 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. In 2019, we expanded to Cote d'Ivoire. Now, we have millions of users and are growing fast. Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent. And that's where you come in....

How you'll help us achieve it

We’re looking for an HR Project Manager who’s resourceful, organized, and proactive about getting things done. You’ll work within a close-knit team to bring tailored SaaS solutions to various departments in Wave.

In this role, you'll:

  • Manage HR Technology projects/initiatives from sourcing to implementation and handover.
  • Partner with various People Operations teams (Payroll, Onboarding, Recruiting, Office Management, IT, etc) to deliver technological solutions that advance Wave’s culture and efficiency of operations.
  • Manage the deployment of new SaaS softwares, processes, and integrations in partnership with IT and People Operations, including sourcing and negotiation, stakeholder management, testing and end user training.
  • Be an escalation point for People Operations softwares and tools.
  • Provide technical training and technical support to Wave team members; train other trainers.
  • Identify, own and implement change management projects and continuous improvement practices.
  • Be a strategic partner in developing Wave’s HR Technology team.

  • Employees in remote positions at Wave can work remotely from anywhere (between UTC -8 and +4) with reliable internet access in the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Belgium, Poland, Spain, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Uganda, Kenya, or Ghana.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant experience designing and implementing process improvement and transformation projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management and consulting with the ability to adjust positively and readily to multiple demands, shifting priorities and rapid change
  • Experience working with geographically distributed and culturally diverse workgroups
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent communication, project management skills and high-level attention to detail/accuracy
  • Excellent Google Sheets/Excel skills
