Star Publishing is a curricular book publisher based in Singapore. We develop instructional materials based on the latest curriculums and pedagogies for use in classrooms in Singapore and other countries. We are hiring Junior Editors!

The Job

• Performing all editorial activities leading to publication
• Checking that authors have provided all the required materials and paperwork
• Sub-editing manuscripts to ensure consistent house style
• Coding manuscripts for design features, such as the hierarchy of headings, to instruct the production team
• Ensuring the writing is appropriate for the readership
• Correcting spelling mistakes and grammatical errors
• Creating artwork briefs to detail the content of illustrations
• Ensuring that illustrations are correctly captioned and referred to in the text
• Producing or working to a style checklist to ensure consistency in hyphenation, capitalization, formatting of references, etc
• Preparing preliminary pages for the title, contents, and preface of a publication
• Obtaining rights to use materials from other publications
• Checking typeset drafts and page proofs
• Filing and other routine administrative tasks

The Requirements

• Degree in Humanities, English, Mathematics and related fields
• A high standard of written and spoken English
• Enthusiastic, possess interpersonal skills, self-motivated and flexible
• Meticulous, organized, and responsible
• Creative and proactive
• Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and maintain a professional standard of work
• Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply
