BEAM's Upcoming event is just around the corner and we thought we'd share a short article on what you can expect from the event this coming Wednesday.
1) Gaining Direct Insights From Investors
Lately there has been an increase in the number of startups focusing on raising funds to scale/grow their businesses. In fact, recent metrics have shown that 9 out of 10 startups not only fail to successfully raise capital, many of them fail within the first 3 years since inception.
Also, many startups are sometimes unclear about the goals and areas investors focus on with regards to evaluating their business. Oftentimes, many founders believe that if they have a 'great product' or a 'well sold idea', it would convince investors to buy into the potential. This is rarely the case.
In this upcoming event, we hope to focus on providing a deeper understanding on the specifics most investors are looking for, and how one can go about positioning your business for long term growth and success.
2) Get introduced to people who can support you & your business.
Motivational speaker Jim Rohn famously said that we are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with. In fact, the 5 closest people whom you seek counsel and mentoring from, can have a radical impact on the outcome and growth rate of your business. It is sometimes surprising when startup founders mention that they would rather have the 'freedom' to build their business, and all they really need is capital.
Getting the right advice and counsel is crucial especially in the early days of a company. What is even more important is really getting the right connections who can open doors and lead you to success. Networking is important, but forging relationships with the right group of people is far more important.
At BEAM, our goal is to provide a platform where you can leverage on to build the right connections to go further in your business. It is one of the reasons why we have always strived to build a free and open platform for communication.
3) Gain Insights from other Startup Founders' Journeys
The media is often filled with hype. It almost seems as though everyone around you is building a unicorn and raising huge amounts of money. What we fail to see is that most of these successes are overly hyped and many of the failures are not spoken about. Like most people say, ignorance is bliss. But this ignorance can take a toll on your business.
Mark Manson has an interesting article on how people who wish to succeed should first ask themselves how much they need to suffer before starting out. There is no better place to know about the struggles of running a company other than from successful founders themselves.
We believe through the upcoming BEAM event(s), you will not only be able to gain valuable insights from these successful founders, it will bring you a renewed perspective on what you should expect to become successful in this space.
4) Get Inspired To Start Your Entrepreneurial Journey
The 21st century is the best time for entrepreneurship and individualistic endeavours. Since the .com boom, the world is now more connected than it ever was. With the rise of social networks and mobile platforms, we are no longer dependent on big corporations to distribute our products, content, and services anymore. Businesses also no longer need a physical office or shop to start. Tools to run businesses are readily available everywhere at a fraction of the cost. It is truly an incredible time to be alive.
We hope that through our networking and insights sessions, you will gain the necessary inspirations from the many people who have embarked on a similar journey, and more importantly gain the courage to sustain you especially in the face of adversity.
5) Have Fun Meeting New People & Have A Fun Night
We see BEAM as a family. We believe there are no strangers, only friends you have not met. We have always believed in the possibilities of connecting people who share similar visions across the world in ways that have never been done before, and ultimately building something that could impact the world at large.
We believe the best ideas should win, and when we are able to forge strong connections and relationships between people, lots of magic could take place - ideas are executed, things are built, value is created, and lives are impacted.
To us at BEAM, events are the gateway to possibilities. It's more than just learning about a particular subject, and it's definitely more than just casual networking. We see it as a platform for growth, change, and impact.
