The ever-evolving situation by the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the ability to return to the office (RTO), which inevitably gave to the rise of remote work.

According to studies conducted, here are some statistics on remote work:

  • Employees were just as productive working from home as compared to working in the office, according to a survey conducted by Becker Friedman Institute for Economics.
  • According to a survey by Owl Labs, it stated that 32% of workers would consider quitting their jobs if their remote work option is discontinued.

Community Q&A

With the rise in remote work, here are some tips to manage remote employees:

1. Be responsive and available

Being able to address issues and inquiries is important as it would prevent a lag in communication, possibly affecting the efficiency of the work process to be done.

With active communication between employees, it could also simulate the experience of working in the same space.

2. Provide face-to-face meetings opportunities

Assuming that employers and employees are working in the same region, it is advisable to organize a face-to-face meeting on a routine basis, especially when a new remote employee is being onboarded.

Through this, new or existing connections and relationships can be further solidified.

3. Organize check-in meetings

This type of meeting is not limited to ensuring work processes, but also to ensuring the human connection between one another.

Check-in meetings include:

  • Address problems that affected them mentally and physically
  • Celebrate achievements made by employees throughout their life journey
  • Promote sharing of different experiences to one another.
  • Discuss the latest developments around the world
