With the recent worsening of the virus outbreak, the Malaysian government has imposed a travel ban for all travellers coming from Italy, Iran, and South Korea.

The restriction will be effective from Friday, 13th March 2020.

According to Malaysia's new Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, the decision was made during the first Cabinet meeting under the new administration led by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

The ban also applies to foreigners who visited any of these 3 countries, which include transits.

For Malaysians, permanent residents, and long-term pass holders returning from the countries listed above, they will be required to undergo a mandatory 14-day observation period at home.

Travel bans for travellers coming from China's Hubei, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu provinces as well as Hokkaido, Japan, are still in effect.
